    Good evening everyone,
I picked up this 2 1/2" diameter coin, token many years ago maybe at a garage sale or flea market. I'm not even sure what to call it or why it has skies and what looks to be 5 rings joined like for the winter olympics. Thinking some kind of tourist piece? I'm not even sure what language it is guessing Russian. I hope someone can tell me anything about this piece. It has a little weight to it.
    Thanks

      I think it's in Greek?

It could be greek SpirtBear. I am only guessing it may be Russian.

Russian. The side with the Olympic rings says Olympic Nadezhdi, which refers to the tall ship Nadezhda pictured on the other side. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadezhda_(1802_Russian_ship)

The other side with the ship says Leningrad 1969.

You will see in the wiki article that the Russians have issued commemorative coins in honour of the first Russian ship to circumnavigate the globe. I don't know why this token would tie together that ship, the Olympics, Leningrad and 1969.

Thank you so much for the link and your great information noob. I finally know what is written on the coin:)) I did some checking and found this piece of info. from the 1968 winter olympics and it says: The gold medal won by Vladimir Belussov in the large hill event was the only medal in ski jumping ever won by the Soviet Union. Maybe the skies and rings were added in honor of his win as he was awarded the Medal "For Labour Valour" in 1969

These coins are possibly from the Olympic Hope Games, Leningrad, 1969, a year after the Olympic Games held in Mexico City 1968. Can't find any information on the Games, just this other coin:

roddyq, I searched pretty extensively for more info on those Hope Games and found nothing beyond that other coin. Also, your coin has a ship on it, which doesn't seem to figure into any type of sporting games? I hope you can find some connection and that you will finally solve your mystery. :)

Same as here katherinescollections I haven't found anything either. It is a strange combination skies and olympic rings on the front and the ship Nadezhda on the back. It is something like this that will keep me searching trying to finally find out why this coin was produced. Will be nice to add the total solved mystery to this post!!!
