My friends mums died and she was given this by her mum before that it also has a small wheel on front and and back on lefthand side .i would like to know a bit more about it.

Hey Seanbaker, I would say around 1890 barrel top/round top, give or take a bit, very nice hardware, love the double lock, probably had four wheels at one time, most trunks have small wheels on the bottom. This trunk has smooth tin which means it probably had a crystallized finish at one time, gold seems to have been the most popular color. I love the dark patina the metal has taken, I wouldn't change that, give it a light cleaning and a coat of past wax and call it good, nice trunk. greendog
