Old trunk with dome style top, eems in good shape, it has paper affixed inside lid that says Plankinton Milwaukee, just wondering where made, year and value?

Hum well looks close but not the same, I'm sure I've seen this one not so long ago likely when researching that other one.

Hi sherryll, your trunk is a barrel top/round top trunk from around late 1880's to early 1890's, alligator tin which is one of my favorite tins, it is a cross slat design, top slats running front to back with two slats running end to end, patented in 1880 by CA Taylor. Front latches were patented in 1872. The Plankinton House Hotel, was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, built around 1862. Your trunk may have been made in Milwaukee, but without a makers label hard to say, value, not a lot, I personal would pay no more than 100 dollars for it in this condition, if you refinished it and made it look nice it would be worth more, but still a nice trunk. greendog
