I bought this yesterday off a friend who also sells at the antique/brocante market on Thursdays. It belonged to her mother. I collect vintage and antique Lourdes items that I find interesting. I've never come across a brooch like this one. It has wear, so was apparently well loved.

Why Lourdes in particular Bonnie?
karen - that is what I see the most of over here. Quite a bit of vintage/antique items show up in thrift shops and in flea markets. If I happen to run across something else that's old and interesting that's not from Lourdes then I might pick it up, too.
OK. I guess I might do the same for the Gunnedah Dog on the Tuckerbox. (Aussies will understand)
