I was given this table by a friend and would love to know as much as I can about it. Age? Place of origin, etc? I know that they painted it and silver leafed it themselves. They said it was painted when they acquired it. Thanking you in advance for any information you could provide.

I bet it was pretty before the paint. Don't get me wrong, I sometimes prefer the paint but it almost looks like Spackle that I would definitely remove.

Did the friend say where it might have come from? or it's size? Is it mainly plaster or a composite material?

      Hello PhilDMorris!
Thank you for your interest in helping me. The table is all wood, heavy. Friend did not know where they got it. The bottom of the table has a hole in it where there is a piece of metal screwed up into it maybe to hold the pieces together. In other words it is not carved out of one piece of wood but rather attached pieces. There is also the number 488 embosed into the wood on the underneath of the table top.

Has some elements that I normally associate with the Aesthetic Movement.

Size and width I asked for and you give me 488, by tomorrow I will have lost this link and/or forget about it most likely that will happen.
