It's been a long time ago to get a beautiful 14K gold Scottish Pepple jewelery bracelet. Now I received this beautiful silver brooch again and i thought how beautiful this grinding method and the colors. This basket hilt broad sword Brooch is 80 mm long and 20 mm wide. There is a Kite approval mark but I can not say anything about.

Who knows what this mark means?

The 'lozenge' mark used between 1842 and 1883 to certify the patent of the models registered by the UK Patent Office.
      The second model used 1868 – 1883
(Cannot be the first model 1842-1867 because year letter, not number, was bellow the class on top).
      On top: Class I (metal)
Two digit numbers is a date (looks like 23)
On the right: Most probably ``D`` for 1878, because there was no letter ``O`` in the second model.
      Bottom ``W`` stands for March
      Left: Parcel
The date indicates the year when the model was registered, not the date of manufacture. It was used as long as the model sold well.
