I grew up listening to this clock chime at my grandparents' Michigan farmhouse on the hour and half-hour. My grandparents were born in 1898 and 1902, and this clock is dated with two "order dates" of 1925 and 1927, so I bet they received it as a wedding gift! This clock sat nonworking for about 25 years, then I convinced my dad to let me have it. He said he presumed it was over-wound. I worked on it a little bit, wound it (still has original key), and it started ticking and now keeps perfect time! The clock needs winding every 6-8 days before it runs out. There are feet which were padded with red felt at one time, but most of the felt has disintegrated. I have no idea who the maker is, but would love to know. The only identification I can see is "Made in U.S.A" on the front, and two numbers on the inside door written in pencil by the order dates - but those could be order numbers. One reads 05559c (I think), and the other is 206-? (either D or II). I don't have enough knowledge of clocks to be able to find any other identifying marks. If anyone can tell me who made it, I'd appreciate it. But regardless, I'll always treasure it and the fun I had bringing it back to life!
