Here's (what is now just part of) my 'nameplate' collection, at least those of which that I re-mounted to a felt faced display panel inside an antique quarter-sawn oak frame. (itself likely from a ~100+ yr old dressing table, the empty frame was found in the attic of a ca. 1880's house and had typical 'mirror hardware' on its back, it measures approx. 18" x 28".)

These are (mostly) various manufacturer's name/ID plates, (mostly) saved from a kinda random assortment of machinery/equipment/things which, for the most part (and whatever reasons) probably don't exist any more now. They are made of aluminum or brass (one or two might be other metal?) stenciled/painted with or without further stamping, a couple are actually embossed. Several (but not all) have some relation to old church pipe organs.

Questions are WELCOMED about any of 'em -- just leave a comment!

My dad used to be part owners in a company Markrite in Canada, they used to make these types of plates . It was a great summer job growing up working in shipping and receiving and looking for a skyhook.

I really like the Linotype plate. When that machine was first introduced a lot of printers thought it would put them out of work, and it probably did.

I assembled this display ~10yrs ago or so...now I have another similar little pile of even more 'rescued nameplates' which I simply haven't come across 'the right frame' for... <groan>

I love this AnythingObscure! What a great idea, it takes up a lot less room then the thing it's on, yet still tells it's story, or enough, that you can find the finish! :^D A nice piece of Art too! Thanks so much for posting, and bringing it back today! :^)

Great collection-- love these data plates.

I have a few that are military related-- wish I had a large collection like you!
