This is my 93 year old uncle who lives in Florida now, He grew up in this small town. He stopped to visit me, on his way to Canada with his daughter, so my son and I took him to visit his old post that he helped build after the war. We found his name, along with his sister`s, on the honor roll! He was in the Navy and she was a Wave. This visit made his day!! Thanks for looking! and THANKS UNCLE BUD!!!

I'm not sure that any generation can be called the greatest. There are top-of-the-line, moral, hard-working people with big hearts, and sinful haters looking to cause others inner turmoil and physical suffering, in every generation.
    8. bobby725 bobby725, 3 years ago
Thanks for the love it spiritbear! you`re getting a little too deep for me, as far as I`m concerned, we owe our country to those soldiers!

Gotta Love Uncle Bud!!! Good to see he still gets around so well. I would say they were/are the "greatest generation" about everybody contributed to the war effort and that was what to took for US not to be speaking German as our first language.

My dad lived to be 93 after avoiding death in WWII as leader of a machine gun platoon. He got a Battlefield Comission to First Lieutenant and a Bronze Star for heroic action in battle.
He retained the dignity and determination and grace and strength of being a part of the Greatest Generation until his dying day!
God Bless him and all the others, including your uncle, who just did what had to be done and we are all here as a result!

To many Veterans are forgotten or put on the back burner because people are to busy. Very nice to see this man respected and someone taking the time to let him enjoy himself doing what he enjoys and helping him along the way.

Thanks fhrjr2! This guy is something else! He has been fighting skin cancer and is winning, plus he loves to do chair caneing even though he is fighting very poor eyesight! They have found a special pair of glasses that he is trying to get used to and he`s not giving in!! Thanks again!

Uncle Bud.....I appreciate you GREATLY! THANK you for your service and that of your family! My uncle Gene served in Vietnam and I remember sending him letters and the airmail envelopes that they went in. He told me the story of how the helicopter pilot said that they were going to take off but they saw him move and they stayed just long enough to get him on the helicopter after he had been shot. Sorry for the long dissertation but this post got me and I wanted to shout out to Uncle Bud and to Uncle Gene! All gave some and some gave ALL!

Great post. I had an Uncle Bud, too. He served in the 7th Infantry Division during WWII and I served in the same division about 30 years later. Uncle Bud passed 17 June 2015 age 98 after an active life and short illness. This post reminded me that I need to drive up to his grave to leave a 7th Inf. Div challenge coin on his tombstone on the anniversary of his death...
