This was another buy from Newark, I recognized these swans as being Norman Grant. I've looked at the marks and assays office is Edinburgh and the year mark is for 1987, the strange thing is I can find the G mark for Grant but can't found the N mark for Norman. There is the same brooch being sold on eBay UK, so I'm certain that Norman Grant is the maker. It's a nice addition to my Norman Grant Collection.

    Many thanks for looking.

I like the brooch - but are you sure they are swans? The neck is a bit short:)
But then again, it is an artist's interpretation.

Hi freiheit, you could be right, the link above is another pendant of Norman Grant which are Swans. Looking at the brooch I do believe they could be ducks.

      Birds! Palmed feet family :-))))
      Sure, not magpies ;-)

      Beautiful addition, Jean!

lol kyra, I didn't get your comment until I saw your new profile photo, is this your magpie or do you have a special relationship with birds. I remember as a child watching another kid, wild birds would fly onto his shoulder, it was truly amazing and have never forgotten the sheer wonderment of people watching this extraordinarily scene.

My other name is Dr Doolittle ;-D
Djama la pie (pronounce pee!) arrived at our table on Sunday lunch time, a young one surely rescued by humans.
The doggies caught her 2 days ago and she left some of her tail in the affair... happily no more damage.
Even if she is more aware now, I'm very careful not to call her when the twins are out!

Magpies are intelligent birds so I don't think she or he will repeat the affair. It's nice to know your a animal lover like myself.
