This is another wonderful medicine bottle. I believe it has a cork top, and the seams do not go over the lip. It measures 8" x 3". The front of the bottle says Allenrhu and under that it says REG. TRADE MARK, under that it says For Rheumatic Aches and Pains. On the front of the bottom it says Alle-Rhume Remedy Co., under that it says incorporated and under that it says Rochester, N.Y. U.S.A. Last line on bottom says L 531 8. On the back it says ONE PINT. The bottom has a triangle with an R in the middle. This bottle dates from around 1910. Thanks again for stopping by.
Well, I don't remember exactly when, but I think it was in about 1907 that the government began mandating that contents' amount (in ounces, pints, or gallons) had to be marked on either glass or label, on all liquid consumer products.
So, it should date after that.
That it doesn't say Cure usually tells us (not always) that it dates after the Food & Drug Act. So, around 1910, it would seem as it lacks mouth seams.
Thanks SpiritBear. I am not a bottle collector, my sister and I just accidently found a treasure trove and we are taking full advantage because we are finding such neat looking things that brings most antique junkies to a standstill, and smell the roses type mindset. We started out as children with bottles, but I was too young too appreciate bottles and now have moved past it. However, it is just awesome to find a treasure, or several everyday by digging.
