Just picked this up in a nearby thrift store.

    Approx 27w x 20h

Not exactly sure of the age, but guessing late 1800s.
A couple of the nails appear to be original (rectangular heads)

I might consider repairing the frame. Not sure how to recreate the patterns though.

Sorry for the upside-down post. Also the image is titled "Morning" based on the plaque on the frame.

The original painting of this image is by French painter Constant Troyon (1810-1865) He painted this in 1855. The title is Boeufs allant au labour, effet du matin. (Oxen going to plowing, morning effect). At this time the original painting is owned by the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.

I found a YouTube video that shows how to fix the pattern with epoxy putty. I started the project and it is a little tricky to get the pattern just right. Dry time is 15 minutes and once it hardens it is difficult to carve. So the trick is to do a little at a time so there is enough time to shape and carve the patterns while it is still soft. I will eventually post photos of the stages after I am done. Thanks, Aaron
