Thanks to our one and only racer4four, I have come to appreciate ceramics and art glass from Japan. I love the shape although I wasn't really able to capture it well today, I'll try again later and replace these pictures, it's been a long day.

In going with the trend of a rustic appeal and my own twist to that, I think this fits well. At first I thought is was metal and was surprised when I turned it over to find it has been made of white clay. The colors are also a bit hard to see but it's a dark teal with mottled black glaze. Almost has a Dansk appeal to it too but the sticker is still attached to the bottom I believe from the 50's.

Anyway, thanks Karen! I love my new bowl ;)

    Enjoy!

Well I can't really take credit for you picking this, it demonstrates your own good taste lol. It's a great bowl, and like a lot of this Japanese pottery I can see a real influence on the mid century Scandinavian style. That shape is fantastic, and the lines just add so much. Masterful!!
Geez, I never knew I had a "style" either, or so much influence ....Laughing, but thanks anyway guys.

Karen, I just have to say, you really have had a great influence on me and just by a simple act of sharing, I have learned a great deal from you and I appreciate that! Since being on CW, I have learned to look at many things with a little more knowledge and it makes things so much more exciting. I don't know if I really realized that the Scandinavian and Japanese designers ran so parallel until I saw this bowl and as exhausted as I was, I just couldn't wait to post it to show it to you! It's so cool, right now it almost looks bronze where the lines are and the glaze is not a thick glaze so it just ...I don't even know how to explain it! You just keep on posting, thanks!!!
