This old photo is of my grandmother , (third from right) along with her sisters. There were brothers too! I think there were 12 children in the family. I am fortunate to have many pictures and stories thanks to my dad and his cousin who put together a fantastic history and shared them with family members including myself. Anyway...this is a favorite photo. Wish I could have known all of these gals.

      Mary,
This is wonderful!! Such a lovely group of sisters. I too have 7 sisters and 2 brothers. My father had 10 sisters and 1 brother and my mother had 1 sister and 8 brothers. I guess, back in the day, it was quite normal to have such large families. You just don't see the large families any longer. Nice post Mary!!

My aunt had 12 offspring---One turned out to be a Priest--and one a jailed criminal!!
Seems to blow up the the theory about how they are brought up influences the child!

Your photo is so endearing. Thank God, for families that take photos and write names and dates on the back. And keep a family history.

I grew up in a house steeped in history. My mom and dad were both journalists and my dad in particular, loved to share family history. I don't think I fully appreciated the gifts my parents shared until I was a "mature" adult! Thanks so much to jscott and PostCardCollector. I love input from others. and thanks for the loves to vetraio, mikelv and TassieDevil.

I was one of five siblings. Many of my friends came from much larger tribes! I recall spending the night with a friend who had 8 sisters and brothers and meal time was carried out assembly line style. They would line up several tins, a few loaves of bread, butter and cinnamon sugar and proceed to make enough cinnamon toast for the whole gang. Their mom spent her days at her sewing machine making clothing for the family including underware.
Thanks for the love and comment Caperkid, and to TimeTraveler, fortapache and SpiritBear! your interest and comments are much appreciated.

The sister on the far left was the youngest. I met her and had some wonderful visits with her a few years back and enjoyed her stories about my mamo and the Marchand family. I believe they were a tight knit group and their song would have been the same as my sisters and I claimed as ours in the 80's: We are family, I got all my sisters with me! Thanks for the loves to valentino97 and Radegunder.
