Any ideas, as to age or worth? There isn't any name or markings on it that I can find. Thanks, Mike

Looking to find out anything I can about this, I don't know if it's antique or not.
It appears to be old but not that old. Civil war saber envelope opener 9" lg.
      Thanks, Mike

I think their high point in sales was late 50's. I had 1 or 2 as a kid.

I have one with an engraved blade dated 1936 from a Clemson Jr. Sr. banquet.

I googled silver sword and sheath letter opener. Lots of similar images including the following link. Are you sure there is not a hallmark hiding from you?

Lizzy, the one that Redfish has is not from the 1800's. There were several sword models that hit the market, as I said. I had this model also & they were of very good quality & true to the model sword they copied. I don't remember any marks. They looked a lot better than that auction piece.Wish I still had one.

Lizzy, I just happened to be an early teenager when they hit the market. I was already collecting antique arms and so naturally I bought a few. They were cheap for their quality.

Thanks all, it was my dads, just going through some things and ran across it.
Thanks Lizzy, I wish it were that old and silver! But it's stainless steel and I think
Blunderbuss got it right because I remember as a kid it would sit on my dads desk in the 60's & 70's. Thanks again, Mike
