I am thinking this funnel type device was for pouring gasoline into a fuel tank. In the long ago gasoline needed to be filtered before it could be used. Chunks of this and that in it. Yes there are still fuel filters but this is a bit different. There is a clamp for clamping onto something but I am not sure what.
The flexible hose is about 3/4" wide, the standard size for these. I think most people can figure the scale from that.
In photo 3 the screen and filter paper can be seen. When I checked it out at the store I thought it was dried oil or some such and I tried to remove it. Then I discovered it was a screen with paper below it and was thinking oops I will just put this back. Gave it a bit more effort and got it back together correctly. Yes I tend to fiddle with things at antique stores. That is one reason why antique stores are better than museums.
Anyway here it is and hopefully someone knows what it is.

I was thinking it maybe a filter funnel to hang under a fuel oil tank filter to catch the spilled oil from changing/cleaning the filter on the tank. However it sounds like fhrjr2 has that beat ;p Fun find anyhow.

Thank you very much fhrjr2. I looked that up but it is not the same. But I think it is on the right track. Need something with the clamp and hose.

Thank you very much 2P I am thinking this is for filling and not catching. Also the filter would only pass a thin fuel like gasoline.
