8" and glued together over the years - - I love this 50's or 60's green cockatoo. It has cursive signature on bottom but I can't make anything out. Maybe this was a handmade crafter's item in the 1950's?. I found it at the Cerritos, CA swap meet years ago for a dollar. Not precious, but I love the spread wings and detail in flowers and chartreuse glaze.

Karen - an actual color of a cockatoo?

Bonnie - thank you. Chartreuse was so popular in the 60's....I have other figurines and ceramics in this color.

John - Yes, a proud stance. They did a pretty good job, it's realistic, not comic.

Mary I think the Cockatoo is William Maddux Pottery of California early 1940's, but Clay Sketches of Pasadena Calif. did some very similar, in the early 1950's. Maybe something to look for! :^D
The Asian lady might be Yona, but a number of California Potteries, made this type, in competition with Japan, and China, in the late 1940's-50's! Nice finds on both! :^)

Bill, always so nice to hear from you - thank you, hope you are having a great Summer. I know my figurines are better quality kitsch because of the detailed painting and glazes. I will check out your suggestions! Thank you, thank you!
