    Hello CW friends!!

Here's another rabbit doorstop I picked up this year. Some folks, in the collectors world, refer to this as "Grandpa Rabbit", but he's actually depicting Peter Rabbit from the 1920 Harrison Cady comic strip, or Peter Cottontail to some folks. No one seems to know who the maker of these Peter Rabbit doorstops is. All that I've ever seen have been colorfully painted. But, this one is porcelain enameled. The first porcelain enameled version I've ever seen.

The last picture is what the Harrison Cady Peter Rabbit looked like in the 1920's. The picture is from the cover of a 1924 Peter Rabbit storybook that I have in my collection.

This one measures 8.5" tall and 4.5" wide. He weighs in at 6 lb and 4 oz. I also own a still bank version of this doorstop. You can check out that one thru the link below.

Thanks for stopping in for a look at Peter Rabbit!!

Thank you WF!!! I really wish he was the painted version, but those are going for $$$$ and far out of my budget.

He's a beautiful white rabbit doorstop (although I wonder why hollowed in back), and a great likeness to your book cover illustration

Great condition, I imagine you would never want to use this for fear of damage.
    13. jscott0363 jscott0363, 6 years ago
Thanks Jenni!! I would say the back is hollowed out so that you can easily pick him up. Otherwise, he'd be a bit harder to grip and he'd also be too heavy.

Thank you Phil!! I'm fairly protective of him as he carries a high dollar value.
