Picked this up at a Church Bazaar for .50 cents in a baggie. Did not know what it was but it was glass and it was heavy. It came with something else, but I don't remember what it was. When I got it home and put it together, I laughed my butt off. I think it is supposed to be Germany's depiction of the great pyramid with a sphinx on top and a black wooden base. It is dated 1989 and has a Germany stamp on it. I really do love it, but when I look at the "sphinx", I cannot help but crack up because it looks like a regal house cat. Do not know what this was made for but I think I'll keep it for now. The base is .75" x .5" x 2.75", the glass pyramid is 5" x 4.75" x a 2" width, and the gold sphinx is .75" x .5" by .5". It has a Germany stamp and a weird C in a circle next to that is 1989 FM.

Franklin Mint. The cat is modeled after another statue...

Thank you TubeAmp. Did not think Franklin because Franklin usually prints on their items. Is Franklin German?

The Made In Germany is a sticker and the date etc. is stamped or etched in frosted print.

Like many companies they farm out much of their manufacturing. They are an US company.

Your Sphinx may rather be the goddess Bastet :-)

Hmm, interesting! I am trying to put the package together and see what it symbolizes.
