I bought this Coke cooler at an estate sale and can't seem to find anything like it!

Still in the box stamped with the year 1970. (I have blacked out the original owners name and address)

    Never been used.

It seems like coke was giving them to certain customers maybe?

What I'm also confused about is why they didn't put the words in the logo and just the wave.

It still has the original paper that it came with.

I have done quite a bit of research and haven't come up with much, if any collectors out there can help fill me in on what this was and is exactly - it would be great!

    Thanks in advance

Coke is not "Ltd" and "reg" is not under the script tail on front. Looks like you got a good cooler though.

Thanks for your response - so you are saying this is NOT a Coca Cola product?

Who sent it under their name then? Weird.

      thanks!

It says reg on the paper

After blowing it up, I see,"trade mark reg." Guess it is real. Need our expert's opinions.

1969 was the introduction of the Coca-Cola logo most call the "wave" but is formally known as the dynamic ribbon device and Arden square. Yes, the script logo was left off probably to emphasize and reinforce the new design. This would have been among the early promotional pieces with the new logo. 1970 kicked off a great decade!

Thanks for the input! Looks like I may have found a pretty cool cooler ???? I will now do some research based on your comments. I wonder why the person received it...if he worked for them or was on a mailing list or simply bought it. I can't find anything online with the no text logo.

Pretty cool, yes I agree. This was a promotional piece, could have been a freebie or low cost item someone sent away for. Generally speaking, Coca-Cola collectors draw the line at 1969, anything from 1970 and later is off limits. But someday your cooler will be a lot older and probably become more collectible.
