I recovered this item 20+yrs ago, from the (unused) balcony of a ca. 1921 theatre building where I worked for awhile. It had been discarded on the floor beneath a glass fronted 'emergency fire hose' cabinet mounted into the wall, after being replaced with a newer (and uglier, but no doubt more fire-code compliant) valve, this one in fact having a largish chunk missing from its valve seat surface inside.

It is made of hefty solid brass and is about 7" tall, taking roughly 1-3/4" threaded pipe hardware. No maker's marks or ID on it except for the "V-in-a-triangle" logo shown. (does anybody know what that means?)
