I tried it once..with the wick it came with (old) and didnt clean out the little tube from the kerosene jar..i had red kerosene..and it burned so blue and hot..made noise like a jet engine and the fumes were horrific..not like kerosene..i cant describe the fuel smell..but well, havent lit it since.. Anyone know if it needs cleaned or if its the chimney or flame spreader thingy.. it came with extra chimney type things but the middle part (flame spreader?) didnt align right.. oh well.. i love it anyway ????

I love old stoves too but sold mine years ago. There are tons of restoration/repair sites you can visit and some may be able to give you some info over the phone if no one here can offer advise. Here is a link that you may find useful and go from there. I would not have tried to use it again either if that happened to me. Anyway, try this for starters.

Let us know how it goes but of course, stick around to see if someone else here has info for you.

Thanks, maybe I can get more specific pics and write to them. Its ok if I cant use it..but..you know, its good to know it will work in case of a blackout in winter or something. Its in such great shape. I read the Amish would use kerosene stoves for canning and such. Thanks so much for the reply
