Well, this has to be the "trippiest textile" yet. Discovered deep in the back of a closet in Charlottenburg Germany - at the estate sale of an actress, this 1960s - early 1970s mini dress is a psychedelic sensation. A trip all onto itself. Bold psychedelic colors, green and blue faces, stars, multi colored swirling hair, sunglasses - maybe some masks- all morphing together... in a mini skirt. Not sure the brain could process this in a maxi skirt.

I turned 18 in 1966, and was out clubbing seriously for 10 years after that. Dresses similar to these were pretty commonplace even in non-cosmopolitan Syracuse NY. Most were knockoffs in synthetic fabrics like polyester, nylon, rayon, and even paper, believe it or not! What I don't see collected often is large polka dots or ruffled fronts or midriffs which were more mud-60's. I really enjoyed looking at this post.
