    Fleamarket…
    (78 items)

We bought these beauties at the 2017 Wilson, N.Y. Flea Market. I just couldn't pass up the price. $2 each!! No Markings. No chips or cracks. It has some bubbles. I think I'm going to fill them with little soaps and shampoos and put them in the bathroom.

Can't say for sure about the brown one but the green one is definitely Sooner, or Arklahoma, glass.

There were more than a dozen companies in that Arklahoma area making these pieces beginning in the 1950s. Most were out of business by the early 1980s.

One more thought - the brown one is probably also Sooner. These companies used recycled glass for much of their products and this sort of looks like beer bottle brown.

      Thank you artfoot.

      Hi,
What a find! These fantastic birds come from the Spiro, OK area. A glassmaker in the area started this type of glass in the early 50's. People worked/trained under him and many started their own factories. Many call it "Sooner" glass because Oklahoma is know as the Sooner State. Actually. there was a glass factory in Spiro that was named Sooner Glass Company.
Anyway, long story short - the brown swan is made by the Sooner Glass Company. That was about the 7th style of head they used. The green is an Old Hickory swan by Central Glass Company. They are the only ones left and still continue to make art glass as well as commercial glass. Eunice Underwood started the company. His son, Glynn Underwood, who now owns Central Glass Company, made your swan. The upturned beak is his mark.

tl:dr, I know but I do hope I helped with your identification. You have two very nice pieces of history.

Thank you so much for this information! Very interesting and it makes me like them that much more.

My dad Charles Sebo and his brother Roy Sebo owned the Sooner glass Co in Spiro. I still have pieces I'll share after I take pictures of them. They both have past and I miss them dearly

All our pieces were made from broken bottles I can take pictures of what's left of the plant. Still bottles outside

I would like to clear up the OC working next to my grampy in Arkansas still researching that as well as the patent deal I apologize for the wrong information on that part of my story I am pretty sure it is Ralph Senior in the video in my grampys factory. Thank you

I want to apologize for misinformation about the patent my grampy drug his feet on his designs so please forgive me for any harsh words I might have said and misinformation I am now taking this more serious I do not want to mess up any ones hard work in researching this information I truly respect this family history information and will continue to post only what I know and have proof with l. I have memories but will I not share gossip. My sincere apologies to the Hamon family . Now that I have proof and researched so much along with records and photos and articles I will organize it and share it maybe to clear up some questions out here . To the Smiths I am glad you got my Grampys business because I can not think of anyone better than Ralph senior to have been the one. Thank you for continuing the legacy. I KNOW THEY ARE PROUD!

These are SO COOL -- FWIW, somehow I wasn't aware that glass was made around here -- so now I guess I have *another* sort of thing to keep my eye out for?? <lol>
