    i found this the other day at a junkshop. it's carved slate, i think. interesting shallow carvings in it too. is this the iron cross? who does it represent?

      To me it looks more like the stark (and to me ugly) 1960's motifs used in Catholic churches....if you are able, google St. Mary's Church, Storm Lake, IA. Ha ha - I hope none of my relatives have read this post! I don't know if your slate cross is for a church.
