I just know I'm going to feel really stupid when someone tells me what this is. I tried to figure out the thread size and I now think it's metric. I realize something is missing.....but what? And I know it's not a lamp finial, my mom tried that. So go ahead and tell me what it is I can't think of, it looks so familiar.
    It's 2" long with a 1/2" diameter.
    Thanks Gang!

      A lamp finial.

      Agree with slackjack
    4. Karenoke Karenoke, 7 years ago
I thought they were mostly universal in size. So my mom tried it on a lamp and it didn't fit, think I'll check behind her. I'll let you know.
      Thanks Slackjack and Fhrjr2!

Nope, I've tried three lamps of various ages.
      Any other ideas?
    6. jscott0363 jscott0363, 7 years ago
Could be a lamp finial for a European made lamp with metric threads. Just guessing.
    7. fhrjr2 fhrjr2, 7 years ago
The color and hardware remind me of Aladdin lamps made long ago.
    8. Karenoke Karenoke, 7 years ago
Ok, now we are likely getting somewhere with European and metric lamps. Because it dang sure don't fit any of the three lamps I've tried around here.
Thanks so much Scott0363 and Fhrjr2, hint I'll do a little digging with those clues.

I do believe IVAN49 may well have solved your mystery Karen. I too believe this is from a pair of opera glasses.
    11. fhrjr2 fhrjr2, 7 years ago
Looks quite logical. Now to find the glasses
    12. KarenLR71, 7 years ago
I thought finial as well but came late to the party...lol. Wow, Ivan49...impressive! There is so much knowledge and sleuthing ability always present here.

Now as, fhrjr2, said....the glass hunt commences??

It's actually very lovely on its own, karenoke!

I think its a handle for a wet safety razor. Or a magnifying glass handle
    14. Karenoke Karenoke, 7 years ago
      Thanks KarenLR71!
And I so agree, it holds its own in the beauty department.
      Thanks for stopping by!

Now GeodeJam, I could not agree more! And maybe that explains why it doesn't fit any of my lamps as a finial. And I happened to have recently acquired an old magnifying glass. So I will check that out a bit later.
Thanks for helping! And stopping by, much appreciated!
