Beautiful old rayon shirt from the 1940's size 16-16 1/2 "washable, do not boil, use cool iron" from Manhattan. This reminds me of shirts Montgomery Clift and Burt Lancaster wore in "From Here to Eternity", 1953 which depicts events in Hawaii in early days of WWII.
The Manhattan Co. was started in 1907 in Salem, NY and later became The Manhattan Shirt Co. It is still in existence today, but under different ownership and company name.
Nice cool rayon fabric, boxy shape with the pointy collar, neck button and flapped pockets for cigarettes. I found this for $1 twenty years ago at Kobey's swap meet in San Diego, CA. Green is my favorite color - it was a perfect find. Yes, over the years it has holes, and fading but still in great shape.
