    Hey Gang!

I am absolutely in love with this piece. It speaks to me on almost all levels. I love the "romance design" in it..the heart shape reference - the
Scottish Luckenbooth design which is in a silver tone and is set with gorgeous vibrant deep purple amethyst colored glass stones. Notice the floral design along the silver tone/mount. Love the studding.

Then our 'heart' is topped with a 'crown'. I just really love the intricate details of this piece.

    MARK: MIRACLE

I was curious about what "Luckenbooth" meant and found the following fascinating info:

The Luckenbooth is one of the most romantic Scottish symbols of love, from the 17th century and often given as a token of betrothal, affection and friendship. It is usually in the shape of a heart or two entwined hearts, symbolizing love, with a crown, symbolizing loyalty, topping the heart(s). In addition, a couple may pin a Luckenbooth to their firstborn’s blanket as a good luck charm.

I'm wondering if the hinge and clasp has been changed if you look at the 4th photo. I'm at a bit of a loss because if I wouldn't have looked at the mark and read your write up I would have thought this brooch would have been Victorian.

I found this on etsy, it's very similar to your brooch.

Interesting, they went to the same site I went to for the background on Luckenbooth but just didn't credit their source.

It was not offered to me as being Victorian...let me look at my paperwork though. I don't always have the best recall these days.

I wish the seller on Etsy would post the pic of the back

Peasejean55 - thanks for posting and for sharing info with me. I have messaged that seller who has one listed on Etsy asking if I could see a picture of the back of the brooch as now I won't be able to let it go...lol.

I rechecked the listing and it was stated that it has the 'original pin and clasp' (something like that). I actually bought it simply because I liked it and it was signed. I figured it was probably from the 70's, 80's...or closer. In other words, for this item I wasn't looking for "Vintage, Vintage"...does that make sense?
