My first hood ornament and it is a big one. Almost 18 inches long and around 2 1/2 pounds. Hefty enough for fighting zombies but it probably made from pig iron so only good for a few whacks.
This does have a very attractive jet plane style. Swept wings had just come into style with the advent of the Korean War. Aside from the German me 262 of WWII jet planes had straight wings.
The jet age and rocket age were a popular design motif in the 1950s for automobiles. Tail lights that looked light rocket exhaust and the tail fins of course. The front end had the cone shapes of a rocket nose built into the grills and of course the hood ornaments. I believe this produced the best looking cars of all time.
