    Hello everone.
This ring is the one I bought with the green ring in my last post, cost $20.00 as well.
Described as "typical school of Rhoda Wager style", which I would agree with too! Unknown maker of course but I am really happy to have it in my small collection of Arts and Crafts jewellery :-)

Now, the stone......black & white Australian Moss Agate I am thinking or I could be totally wrong lol!

Don't think there is too much more I can say about this ring except that I love it and it fits me as a pinky ring.

The 4th picture should show both rings on my fingers if I have loaded the pictures properly!
Hope you enjoy seeing this one as well. Thanks Judy

      Nice find .... A ++++++

Hi there. Striking ring but would not consider the stone moss agate, which has really does have greenish inclusions that look like moss inside a translucent matrix. This is something more like the jasper known as 'zebra stone', which can have patches of black & white instead of stripes.
    7. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 2 years ago
Thanks Rose for the comment and the love:-)
    8. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 2 years ago
Haha Gary lol, thanks for the love too:-) )
    9. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 2 years ago
Hi Cameo, thank you! I will have a look at the zebra jasper. I knew it wasn't the "proper" moss agate as I have some of those, but I thought the Australian moss agate was pretty close for this ring:-) Appreciate your help thanks:-)

OK, the story I have heard about this stone is that it is the granite that was dug up when they were building the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Don't know if it's true, but it sounds romantic.
    11. Jewels1900 Jewels1900, 2 years ago
BTW, it's made by Prouds. I recall seeing them in original boxes.
    12. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 2 years ago
Haha jewels!! What a great story, love it, true or not!
I remember you mentioning Prouds having their own line of these rings, that's really great information, thanks very much for letting me know:-) ) )

Hope you enjoyed or are still enjoying your trip:-)
    13. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 2 years ago
Jewels1900, I will mark this as solved for you now with the maker known :-)

Jewels 1900!! Look what I found in Trove......an ad for chips from the bridge!!
    15. Jewels1900 Jewels1900, 2 years ago
OMG, that is so awesome! I'm going to have to buy the next one I find. I probably won't find one now! But I do see these gum leaf rings regularly awesome, I have a few in my collection with stones & pastes.

I've only every seen this granite in rings though. Maybe once a brooch that wasn't great quality - I wonder where it is.

I think we need to do some more research on this firm and see what we can find.

You're on fire! I'm sure I have a brooch. I'm going to have to dig it out.

And a little ad in this one just for rings!
    22. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 2 years ago
Yes, do find it please! I think we have enough pictures and info now! So do you think mine is one of the Angus & Coote ones?
    23. Jewels1900 Jewels1900, 2 years ago
No, I think the ones pictured are a bit tinny. The brooch I vaguely recall I bought is a bit tinny, that's why I'm unsure about it. It really only rates because of it's now discovered historical interest.

I think yours is better quality.
    24. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 2 years ago
Thanks jewels, that was fun and filled in the night with nothing to watch on tv lol:-) )

    31. kyratango kyratango, 2 years ago
Even more interesting with history behind! I was thinking a kind of granite reather than moss agate too :-)
    32. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 2 years ago
Hi Pascale thanks, the best part was finding that Jewel's story was true!! I was pretty excited to find all those ads!
Granite didn't even cross my mind, but I am pretty hopeless at identifying any kind of gem or stone lol and can't see me improving at this late stage:-) )

Came across this ring in England with the same stone and mentions granite as well! The decoration on the ring is different to anything I have seen before so do not know if it is australian made.

    40. Jewels1900 Jewels1900, 2 years ago
Saw it too. Came up day after our discussion. Same stone, same maker. Different design.
    41. kyratango kyratango, 2 years ago
:-) Judy... Jewels1900... I got the ring, saw it too just after your discussion :-)))
Think it is by same maker.
    42. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 2 years ago
Thanks Jewels, thought it would be the same maker but the design threw me out!
    43. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 2 years ago
Yayyyyy Pascale, that's great, very happy for you:-) ) )
When I first spotted it I thought someone had used my picture and couldn't believe there could be another one around!!
I toyed with the idea of bidding on it simply because of the different design, glad I didn't now and so pleased you got it! Will be interested to see your pictures of the design as they were difficult to see I thought, but I knew they weren't leaves like mine.
