My neighbor gave me this today.. He said he had something for me but i definitly wasn't expecting this.. It is wireless and doesnt even take batteries... Pretty amazing technology for the early 50's.. And look at its amazing mint shape!

Ohh, COOL!! An *ultrasonic* remote control!! Indeed as you've noted already, no batteries required -- instead (as you've no doubt also noticed already) pushing any of its buttons causes a little springloaded mechanical 'hammer' inside to whack one of 4 precisely "tuned" metal rods in there (those round things seen thru the gold grille on its end) which then produces an ultrasonic (think "dog-whistle") sound/pitch that in turn activates whichever appropriate (motorized) control within the TV set itself.

My Uncle Charlie had one of them with his Zenith TV back in the late 1960's or so -- it was SO MUCH FUN to use -- point it at the TV, push a button, <CLICK CLACK> goes the box, and *the channel changes* all by itself??!!

Too bad your neighbor doesn't still have the TV set that went with it, but still a WAY COOL little bit of mid-century "developing technology"!! <applause>
