I acquired this odd contraption at an estate. Seems to have a copper saucepan/pot on top that has an electrode inside and is attached to an electrical source. The bottom of the pot has a copper coil that sticks down like 2 fingers and there is one other rod coming off of the pot. These 3 rods when placed on the copper box that is shown, align through 3 holes in the box and down into a copper box of water. There is a water pump inside of this box. Inside the pot is a hollow egg. I don't know if this egg was supposed to come with it or not. I have no idea what it is to be used for other than some type of heating apparatus. Any information would be appreciated!

The egg sounds like what people put in hen houses to kill snakes. Snake swallows egg & can't pass it. What a way to go !

My first thought was of a small indoor fountain we had in my house as a kid—with copper "petals" that poured into one another and then into a larger bowl. Possibly this was just a water feature?
