I found this pendant lying in the bottom of a plastic container filled with all sorts of rubbish jewelry and other items. Right next to it was a sterling Onyx and MOP checkerboard pendant (50 cents), so you know I couldn't leave it behind!

I haven't been posting much because I am getting ready to go for a vacation to Coatesville, Pennsylvania to see my family. I'm leaving on Saturday, 30 Sept, from Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam, flying into Heathrow and then over to Philadelphia. I will be there until 30 October.

    Thanks for stopping!

Hi Bonnie, Egypt does not use 14K as a standard grade. These cartouche name pendants are most often 18K, as this one is also marked. Compare the marks on your piece to the ones shown here: http://www.ebay.com/gds/Egyptian-Hallmarks-/10000000178591804/g.html The other mark is a date letter. Great find!

Oh good! I only tested for 14K, not 18K...until now. I also have a thick Ankh pendant posted here somewhere, so that is also 18K and not 14K. Woo hoo!! Thanks!!!

I so often have to point out to sellers that their 14K piece is marked as 12K, it is a pleasure once in a while to let someone know their item is of better quality than they thought. :)

:-)))) My total spend for the two pieces was 4,50 Euro which at the time was less than $5.00.

Shows the measurable monetary value of training your eye to recognize quality.
