    Help! Found this lovely French trunk and when I took off the canvas this was underneath. Yikes! Re-purposed boards. Now i’m split between keeping the funky Picasso look or stripping it all down which will entail a lot more work than I bargained for.

      It looks like a solid trunk. I think you should strip it. Don't they all entail more work than we bargain for? :) Can't wait to see the results.

      I agree. Strip it! And they do all throw some kinds of curve balls. I’m sure you’ll make it look great!

      I love the look even the way that it is T-man .The brass cleans up nice.I would possibly consider just clear coating it.Picasso might approve. You would be hard pressed to find that latch and lock hardware. Then again I am interested to see if those boards are poplar as I suspect.If so They have
      some wonderful grain patterns.Much luck on your decision I'm sure it will be cool
      either way.
