Hello I have found this lovely green coloured stone, seems to be very worn around the top and am wondering how many years of constant wear would it take to cause that amount of wear. Is this some kind of emerald ? Is the cut old?

I have no hesitation about pronouncing this one glass. The mineral family, beryl, that emerald comes from is not the hardest, but it is not so soft that it could be scraped like this. Lovely shade of green though.

Thanks cameo I was wondering how it could get so worn yes the colour stood out seems a bit small for a ring though, I didn't measure but think it's about 8mm

Strangest thing I noticed cameo , when taking picture the light hits the stone and it looks like part of the picture is missing, I've not noticed this before, do you know why ?

Red is reflection, whited out bits are glare. It is a difficult & painstaking process to photograph shiny jewellery well. Most of us do not have the skills, camera or accessories to get perfect results. There are professional photographers who make it a specialty.
