You have an art deco "duet Brooch clip". Like this one:
      https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/535290777/art-deco-duet-brooch-clip-clear?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=duet%20clips&ref=sc_gallery_1&plkey=c6a21906b97c68ac1f81cffdc0bda925463e8e06:535290777
The two pieces together make a brooch, or can be separated to be two dress clips. Just like nuts says above.

The correct spelling is 'duette'. (I knew that!)

thank you both for your comments since listing i have looked at Trifari and they did do a similar to this clip broach only none that i have seen look as decorative as this one the stones have 4 like pins holding them in place, also we gave it a wash as it has not been out for 20 years loose in a jewellery box with other items that i will list shortly, and there are no scratches visible on any of the larger stones there is also a number now visible which is x 362-5 thank also to Gillian i will look at your links you have sent any more info would be very grateful as i am now learning more by the hour thank you

This is one link (as is the one above) - a google image link showing many different duette brooches. Be very careful cleaning any vintage jewelry. You need to know what type of stones you have, and what the metal is. It's very possible to loosen some rhinestones while 'washing'. You can look up how to clean vintage rhinestone jewelry and you'll find many sites, and YouTube videos that will help.

Dito Nutsabotas and Gillian comments above!
Definitely not diamonds, I can see the silver coloured painted back of the rhinestones in pics#2 and #3.
The "prong" setting is sign of age and quality vs glued rhinestones.
From the metal look, and without any marking for "silver" or "sterling", I suspect pot metal.
      Very pretty duette!

thanks for all your comments this piece of jewellery has been in a cupboard for the last 20 years i am having a clear out and am wondering if this item would have any value, and if so where would I look for a buyer for a piece like this thanks ?

CW'ers are not permitted to offer opinions on the value of any piece. If you look for rhinestone, pot metal duette brooch, on Ebay, Etsy or Ruby Lane, you'll find a good selection of comparables.

      All the best.
