Was rearranging furniture today and this was last book I pulled out of the bookcase. Thought it appropriate to post it on this sad anniversary of the Beirut bombing. RIP my brothers. Semper Fi

May God Bless The Marines, and happy Birthday to Them! I was Army myself, but read everything i could find on soldiers like "Chesty Puller", and also his son's book "Fortunate Son". Turns out JR was not that fortunate at all, but, got blown up in Vietnam, and tried to live with what was left of his body and mind, but failed in the end. It's hard to believe that it has been 34 years since the Beirut bombing, but i remember it well. You have a good day akrodog, and i will hoist one up for The US Marine Corps, and also to all the Men and Woman who are Serving, and have Ever Served Our Country, in all branches of the Service!

WOW lzenglish! Thank you very much for those sentiments! I was in Beirut in 1982 and while I didn't lose any friends there in '83, I lost 241 brothers. I am currently making plans to go to Philly for the Marine Corps' 242nd birthday party this year. Will be staying with an old Marine Corps buddy I haven't seen in over 30 years. To those that don't know how it works, that is exactly how it works! Yes, Chesty was definitely a stud, but you "dogs" had a few also. Hack immediately comes to mind as well as Hal Moore. You might get a kick out of a photo on my FB page(Nick Hardesty). Scroll down a bit to see me at Parris Island. Scroll way down and see me in Beirut! Quite the contrast! ROFL!!!!
Anyway, thank you again lzenglish, very much appreciate and agree with the hoist!!! And thanks to all my other viewers for the love, you guys rock!
