    Round heavy cast iron housing spring loaded with a blue and white rope that i was told it sat on top of a streetcar namely the red rocket Toronto Ontario but do not know what the purpose of it was or the age
    The name Earll with a Pat. N0. 2131223 stamped on it

      looks like its the pull cord that ran threw the train to pull to get off...? just my guess...

      Thank you, both for the help and now i know it is a trolly retriever and set at the back of a streetcar and trolley with the rope fastened to the electric receiver arm.
