Hi: This is my very first ‘show and tell’! This is my Victorian unmarked silver Luckenbooth brooch, set with a central paste citrine and surrounded by smaller paste gemstones. The three small stones set on top of the crown maybe garnet and moonstone.
This Luckenbooth brooch would have been made by a silversmith working in one of the stalls on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, Scotland in the late 19th Century.
These beautiful brooches were given as a love token on betrothal or marriage. The heart symbolising love and the crown symbolising loyalty, how romantic!
The reverse has a tube hinged pin with simple ‘C’ clasp fastening.

Aaaw thanks TassieDevil, it is one of my favourites. The only problem with these heavy Victorian brooches is that the pin is huge so you have to be careful what fabric you pin it on!

Thanks for your lovely comment racer4four, these nine little paste gemstones actually unscrew individually from the brooch which makes cleaning the silver a lot easier :-)
