After 8 years of annual road trips to Florida's Cape Canaveral to attend the Astronaut Autograph & Memorabilia Show sponsored by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation, this is the result of my efforts...

The Millennium Collection...

Mechanical banks used as promotional items from banking institutions, credit unions, insurance firms and others...

Later modified to honor the NASA Astronauts by name and historic mission...

61 specimens signed by astronauts from all American Space Missions...

Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Skylab, Soyuz, Mir, Space Shuttle and International Space Station Astronauts autographed these old toy banks...

American Mettle: Banking On The Race For Space... http://www.go-star.com/antiquing/space-banks.htm

MISSION: INCREDIBLE

Mysterious vintage toy bank launches fantastic journey... https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/171772-updated-group-shot-2015-including-peter

The second picture is of my Vendor badges throughout the years...

The third picture shows some of the other types of banks these three companies produced...the Wild West Bank and the Sportsman Bank specimens can be just behind the Destination Moon Banks...

That is pretty cool. They were big celebrities in the early days.

Yes fortapache, the Mercury Seven were all hot-shot fighter pilots whose heads grew a little bit bigger after they were chosen for the Space Program...

And celebrity status also affected the Gemini and later Apollo Astronauts as the Space Race progressed...

But in a certain circle of folks, these astronauts are still big celebrities...and that's why I enjoy doing these shows...I've had a total of eight once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to mingle with America's Space Heroes...
