1970 large Acorn Basket made by Russell Bennett of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. He could possibly be related to Alice Bennett, she is from the same area and there are beautiful baskets that she has made. This basket is made from Black Ash and Sweet Grass, is 7 inches in diameter and 11 inches in height including the stem.

What I love about this basket is the coloring: it is Green on one side, and graduates into the Cream coloring. Like part of the acorn is still not ripe yet. I have seen other artists use this coloring in their basketry, like George Neptune of the Passamaquoddy. I love his work but could never afford it :)

This is larger than I usually go for as well as newer, but the shape and the coloring made me buy it :)

    Enjoy the pics
