Fossilised squid (Orthoceratites) arranged in one direction? It must have been a very sudden death?

I found it at Goodwill for a dollar-fifty. That sure beats the twenty-five bucks the stores ask for them! I asked the cashier if she knew what it was. She said, ".... a rock....?" LOL.

I scrubbed it and set it atop Valentino's heated rock. He seems to like it.

Whomever here prays and is right with Jesus, please pray for Valentino. He's not been doing well lately.

Poor Valentino, it's hard to treat dragons. He has nicely flattened himself on your fossil to get more heat.
      Great fossil BTW!

Sorry ! I seemed to have started a rumor about your liz-ard being ill. C'est l'vive. Hope he recovers soon.

Blunderbuss, he gets flatter in the summer heat. Nous prions pour qu'il vive.

Anna, they're readily available. One of the most commonly seen fossils I know of. Still a nice conversation piece, though.

Valentino, The electric heat rock was always a bit too warm for my liking. I hated putting a fabric barrier over it as that risked fire and wasn't sanitary, so I was always looking for something better. This is sufficient.

Rob, they are readily available if you know what and where to look for =) I'm just getting into this subject as i've acquired a few fossils, rocks and arrowheads from an estate of an archaeologist. It would be nice to know what i have! I'll try to post some over the weekend. Maybe you can help me figure some out.

I await seeing that which you have found, Anna. Seems like you're back to being a 'regular' here?
