I just received these earrings in the mail. They are described as from the 70's, vermeil gold wash over silver (I don't know about that) and the round donut is carnelian with dangling turquoise. The filigree is just the same on the front as it is on the back. Looks like a butterfly to me or dragonfly and I think it goes pretty darn good with those beaded necklaces that I never identified. Those beads could very well be African seeds, but the color sure works with the earrings. I love the side of these earrings too. I'm thinking of having some made from sterling by a silversmith I know. What do you think?

The third photo is a turquoise pendant made by my friend that is just gorgeous. At first I wasnot sure about it being on the leather, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

She also made the turquoise ring in the 4th photo. That turquoise is from a Nevada mine that has been depleted years ago, mine #8. I will later post a photo of the ring on. Just wait till you see it! The turquoise in the ring is a little darker and the matrix is coppery brown. Here is some info I got off the net about that mine and some photos to show the color better!

    Enjoy!

I wish I could stick around right now but it's driving Ms Daisy time...in fact I'm about 3 hours late in doing so! Yikes. Ms Daisy is not too happy right now...oops!!!

    xoxo to all!!

Woooh! Lovely earrings, butterfly! the color combo with those turquoises dangles works so well :-)
Your friend is a true artist, both pendant and ring are great. LOOVE THESE TURQUOISES :-D Thanks for introducing the Number 8 mine!

      P.S. Who's Ms Daisy ? (I know... I'm too curious...)

And for the yellow beads, not seeds, you may look for faturan, a mix of amber and resin, they may well be a kind of that :-)

OMG Phil! I see it now and yes, you are right!!! I would have thought Id have caught that now that I absolutely do see an owl. It's pretty much plain as day to me now! Thanks! Oh now wait a sec...I just looked up and our Ms Mani see butterflies! haha now I dont feel so bad! lol

Hi kyra! Well, I think Phil just straightened me out that the design is an owl! See it now? I did only after he said that which is strange because for about a year, it seems like I've been attracting owls all over the place! Seriously, there's been well over a dozen that I have acquired and have not been looking for them! Anyway, that's pretty cool about mine #8 right! With the season change, I now have to figure out where my good light is for my photos again and hours to, Id like to get a better photo as the colors aren't showing real well here.

Ms Daisy is my mom! LOL! I can tell you one thing for sure that I know now since taking care of her, I know where I get my stubbornness from!!! OMG! And I thought that it was hard when my kids were little...that was nothing in comparison.

I just saw your comment about the amber/resin mix! I thought before these might be amber and never heard of this mix...excited to see what it's all about. Thanks so much!

Thank you Mani so much for the lovely compliment! We...meaning I have just totally agreed with Phil...figured these to be owls! Once you look again, you will probably see that as plainly as I did. Pretty clear right! haha

Thanks nutsy! She is very talented. The thing with the ring is that it is large, very large. I'm going to take a shot with it on and you will see what I mean. I have worn it to the casino and I get so many compliments on it...it's an in your face ring! haha

I don't see the owl unless it has one eye ? But my imagination is failing too :-)
    13. shareurpassion shareurpassion, 6 years ago
Kyra! Wow...I don't even know what to say! I have put those beads on to wear and everytime I do, I take them off before I leave the house. That's because I have always thought they must be prayer beads and I'm not so sure they actually go on as necklaces. It is a pretty tight fit... So, now I'll look up a couple of terms I am not familiar with in that article. If they are what they now seem to be... hmmm they just may go up for auction! I have some round ones too but of course I took that one apart, why? Cause it's what I do! Leave it to me, I can make something worthless in a hot second!!! haha Oh well

I just looked at them again to find one that made me think they might be seeds to take a close up photo to show you and in doing so, I moved the beads and the string where they sit on both strands has a yellow tint??? What does that tell you?
    14. shareurpassion shareurpassion, 6 years ago
It's there Mani, your imagination is not failing by any means. I am the type of person that will catch the obscure right away and usually see things that others don't but Phil sure beat us to the punch on this one. I actually see it plain as day now. I'll repost a new photo outlining it for you. So feel silly when you see it cuz like I said, I didn't even see it!

The eyes are on the head made up of the rhinestones just under the large hook. Whooo Whooo ! I knew they were owls and I almost did not mention it. Some one else would have figured it out also, love to youuu !~

The butterfly on each earring is upside down, its head and antenae toward the carnelian donut hole :-)
    18. shareurpassion shareurpassion, 6 years ago
Well Phil...looks like we have some naysayers here! I see below you Kyra sees butterflies too! LOL It's all good! xoxo
    19. shareurpassion shareurpassion, 6 years ago
Kyra, That's what I thought, but here's the question then, why would they make it upside down??? haha I dunno But well just have to leave it up to you since you are the queen of insects!!! ;)

Nice! I found a piece with leather a long time ago. It is wrapped around a large tooth (not sure what from) and has coral and turquoise embedded too. The leather has dried out so it is hard as a rock, but I had never seen anything like it. I love different so I bought it. I will have to fish it out of my curio cabinet..if it is still in there and not put away. If it is put away it will take more than a minute to find...maybe longer HAHA.

I'm with PhilDMorris, on the possibility of an Owl in the design?. Beautiful pieces!!
