Cameo brooches seem to be very popular at the moment. This one, in a 9ct Gold frame depicts a carved baccante, finely detailed with vines entwined in her hair, so delicate.
I like that it can be worn as a brooch or pendant. Can you see the tiny stress lines that appear each side of the head?
Probably early 20th century, the reverse shows a rivet hinge with ‘C’ clasp.

She's lovely. Agree early 20th century. Have seen cameos I think are later that also use these hinges but have a rollover safety clasp. (Those settings were made in Italy, the delicate little pin is usually completely inadequate to the size of the piece & I suspect are meant to look older than they actually are.) This is English & very well made, a high end piece in its day, with its protection for the sharp tip of the pin & large hook for attaching a bail. I suspect this bail is a modern replacement & that the original was more ornamental & solid, but did not accommodate as large a chain clasp is this one can. Cameos I see with this type of finding for a detachable bail have more often than not lost that piece.

Yes, can see the stress lines. Not any worse than commonly seen on cameos of this age. Quality of carving outweighs them.
