This is one of my favorite paintings, greatly due to sentimental reasons. It was purchased by my mother in the 1970s from the artist who was going door-to-door with his art (in Lachenaie, Quebec). My mom says he was an old gentleman, but then again, she was only in her 20s back then, so what she considered 'old' may be subjective. :)

The painting depicts what I view as a typical Quebecois forest-scape. It is unsigned, but I love everything about it. Most importantly, it reminds me of home.

Thank you for looking.

It's a lovely painting Anik, and things with family history always retain appeal.
Maybe the signature is under the frame. I can't imagine such an accomplished artist not signing their work.

Thank you for the comment, racer4four. I haven't looked under the frame, so I don't know what surprises might be hiding behind it.

My mom bought a second larger painting from the same artist (also with a Quebec forest-scape) which is signed. That one is hanging at home so I'll ask my dad to take a picture of the signature for me.

I'll post it here when I get. :)

My Dad sent me a photo of the signature which I've added to the photos above. It looks like G. G..... 75 Unfortunately, it's been signed in marker which has faded over the years.

My mom recalls that the artist had told her he exhibited in Expo67.

Maybe someone will recognise the signature?

    Thank you for looking. :)

    Hello,

Your painting is signed . Look at the last picture ( at he bottom). You will see a name and the year 1975.
Just take more pictures of the signature. I might be able to help you.

Hi matisse, thank you very much for taking the time to comment. The last photo is a photo of the signature found on a second painting by the same artist, which is hanging on the wall in my family home in Canada. The first painting (which is hanging here in my home in Poland) is unsigned. Unfortunately, I haven't got any better photos of the signature. :(

But I do appreciate your help.
