One inch wide carved butterscotch bakelite beauty. It has damage but easy touch-up w/ochre paint. Kyratango will agree. The seller suggested "grind it back down to original white and start over", which is not possible and also why I got this for a really good price.

Fires make beautiful sunsets, I saw this last night on the LAX flyaway shuttle to home in Long Beach.

Wow! Stunning depth in the carving!
Of course, I agree with the ocre paint touch trick ;-))

      Was this guy serious?
Being the collector of early plastics that you are
I'm sure this didn't even cross your mind.

I came out of the Grocery store on Monday ,and the sun was setting...
It was dark red. Considering the cause, it was quite ominous.

Karen - Thanks I bought it on vacation and it was waiting for me when I got home.

flashlarue - Thanks, yes it's a nice design. Some of the damage shows the original white color which annoys me.

Kyra - This poor bracelet has 23 broken spurs. Someone really wanted to hurt it (ha ha - maybe a kid's plaything?)

      Phil - Yes, I don't resell so I don't mind. Now I have 14 in this color - should be enough :-)

Eileen - Yes - crazy idea. Bakelite can't be heated and reshaped. There's plenty of plain bangles out there. Wasn't the sunset gorgeous? And very sad for those affected. Because I was on vacation I'm catching up on the news now. AND, I was in my first snowstorm in 30 years. I did not enjoy it one bit. But I do love Virginia!!

Thanks friends for loving this bracelet: Ken, Hel1, Mike, Judy and Ted.

really pretty bracelet! That's sort of an odd spot for breakage, right? It must have fallen directly on something. Still pretty tho. Oh hey, I have this stuff called Plastic Wood by DAP that's paintable. I used it on a ceramic eagle I bought that had broken wingtips and a broken beak. It came out pretty good even if I do say so myself! With the bracelet it may be kinda tough tho due to where the breakage is. I'll see if I can get a decent shot of the eagle.

Thanks Share - I will look into that DAP product for another restoration project. LOL, But for this Bakelite Baby - I think it was in a kids' play set until someone noticed it was holding up pretty well, then they found out it was bakelite. Now I have it and plan to do a little repair, probably won't rebuild the spikes :-)

haha I was actually thinking like what I think you are. It may be the only way to go. I'll wait for the wonderful results I know you have come up with. That stuff works great for all kinds of other projects...If I remember correctly, it's waterproof after it dries...maybe. I hope so, I repaired and painted a vase with it! haha ;)

Share, I just bought a broken bakelite bracelet that I am going to do a major Val restore on, will look into DAP. Can't wait to share it with you Share LOL. I don't like to post seller pictures. Looking for little presents online and found some treasures for me - Geesh! Like I need one more thing.

Gargoyle - that was actually a view from the famous horrible interstate 405 (6 lanes in one direction) heading South, right near the airport. My home view is a calming ocean view at Long Beach, but thanks - yes, it was a beautiful view not having to drive :-)

Your sunset pictures 4 years ago proves poor California is on fire every summer..
      We need our forests maintained!!!

When I owned The Ranch, I let the fire department go up on my mountain to make a “fire break”…hard work, but so necessary. Firefighters work is underestimated!

Eileen - I agree, so sad that 4 years ago I still had hope even during awful CA fires. Now this LAX shuttle is gone, it's still burning and hot and traveling LAX is a very scary ordeal with most of us dealing with Covid Crap. An Uber 24 miles from LBC to LAX is $70. Public transportation is still cheap - but it takes 2 hours by metro and bus to get to LAX! Crazy. Yes, I could park my car at the lot. That has gone up quite a bit too. The best solution is to pay a friend - Lol.
