From 1968 until the early-1990s, the "M" logo of the NYCMTA represented the heart of the city's transpotation system. In this time, three network were established that remain in existence today under different names (after around 1994). New York City Transit, now New York City Subway, New York City Surface, now New York City Bus, and, lastly, New York City SIRTOA. An acronym for Staten Island Rapid Transit Operating Authority. Today, it is now known by its offical name as Staten Island Railway.
