Odd shaped low tin container with metallic trimmed wavy sides, and a 5 1/2 cent price applied to one of the ,lower roses. I don.'t know if that is the price of the tin, or the price of something that was inside, like candy or something..The metallic old gold trim was not spared. It is so pretty and I have never seen one in this low figural shape(-I guess Italian design, with the place being Venice ) The artist was unspecified but to get the feel of the 17th Centry,--Could it be a thread or sewing box. The back sr stamped in raised letters
EDWARD SHARP & SONS, MAIDENSTONE,KENT. What do you think was in it in the day?. I love the dainty feminine look of it.

It looks a bit 1960s to me. I love the picture on the front.

Edward Sharp & Sons made Toffee. The price, as far as I can make out was 3 shillings, written as 3/- It would be an expensive tin of toffees f0r 5/-

There was no such thing as 5 and a half cents in England at that time. Currency was based on the unit of 12 then, now it's metric, it's 10.

As AdeleC says, probably sold in the mid 60's.

Yes, I thought so too.(1960s) Guess qualifies as Mid-Century-ish. How nice, Toffees!!! That is exactly what I'll put in it! I too, and really fond of the gentle picture. Thanks to all who shared information and "love"!
