As 2017 is soon to close, and holidays are upon us, fun to look back at the year collecting. I made a good move filling the Coke Cave bedroom this year. Most recently I added this 1927 sign maker-marked Shonk Works Amer. Can Co. Maywood, Illinois. Price was a little higher than I would have liked in this condition. But fair. Sometimes collectors have to give back a little (as little as possible! ;0)
Seller claimed this 12x36 stamp embossed tin litho job was found during a house renovation, used as a wall patch. The back of the sign is painted white and one can see where the paint pushed through the nail holes and dripped down the edges on the front of the sign. So maybe a true story. The sweet spot looks remarkably well preserved and sports a wonderful fat old logo. And tin signs that include the 5¢ price point are prized.
I figure I need about 6 more signs to complete the bedroom display, so I'll be working on that during 2018. Hope everyone is enjoying the season. I'm wishing that your new year is full of good times and great finds! Best Regards.
