Another cast aluminum airplane. Plane is the standard P-38 and it sits atop a shell base ashtray.

Seeing this P-38 reminds me of a local hero from my hometown in Superior, WI. United States Army Air Force Major and Medal of Honor Richard Ira Bong was born in Superior, WI and grew up on a farm in nearby Poplar, WI. He flew a P-38 and was considered the "Ace of Aces" being credited with 40 downed enemy aircraft.
Thanks bucket-- I didn't realize that MAJ Bong flew the P-38.
